Taking cue from Novatium’s Nova netPC launched way back in early 2007, Bharti Airtel has launched a low-cost online computer exclusively for its broadband customers in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida. Available at Rs 7,999, the Airtel Net PC is a ready-to-use computer — inclusive of a 15-inch LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse and Nivio companion.
Speaking on the occasion, K. Srinivas, joint president, telemedia services, Bharti Airtel, said, “Airtel’s entry into the space of cloud computing, with the launch of the Net PC, is part of our strategic intent to remain focussed on enhancing the broadband experience for our customers by offering innovative and collaborative products. This comes close on the heels of our other innovations that include the recent launch of Airtel Online Desktop and the pioneering of 16 Mbps high-speed broadband in the country.”

Powered by Nivio and Microsoft, the Airtel Net PC provides an operating system with the Windows-based online desktop, 10GB space to store documents, photos, presentations at a central location, 100 per cent data security assures no loss of data or computer crash and regular original software upgrades.

The Airtel Net PC is available for Airtel broadband customers in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida at Airtel Stores and NEXT Electronic Stores.

In addition, Airtel broadband customers can purchase the Airtel Net PC by choosing from three entry packs – Home Pack which at Rs 699 per month gives an Airtel broadband connection at 256 Kbps speed with 3GB data transfer plus an online desktop service with 10GB storage and MS Office standard; Professional Pack, at Rs 899 per month, gives an Airtel broadband connection at 256 Kbps speed with 3GB data transfer plus an online desktop service with 10GB storage and MS Office standard with administrative rights; and Business Pack, at Rs 1,199 per month, gives an Airtel broadband connection at 256 Kbps speed with 3GB data transfer plus an online desktop service with 10GB storage and MS Office premium with administrative rights.

Chennai-based Novatium Solutions launched its Nova netPC in early 2007. Novatium already has tied up with BSNL, MTNL and TTML for broadband services and expects to close the FY10 with more than two lakh subscribers. As part of its tie-up with Novatium Solutions, BSNL offers the desktop computer at Rs 2,999 (excluding taxes) on a monthly subscription of Rs 175, while the monthly broadband packages start at Rs 99.
